The Youth Story Ledger was held at Flinn Middle School. It’s an event where 6-12 grade students from Flinn, Marshall, West, and Auburn shared personal narratives with the community. These stories offer deep insights into their lives, experiences, & dreams, challenging negative biases & showcasing resilience, bravery, & intelligence. By sharing their stories, students empower themselves & foster understanding & empathy within our community. This year, the Youth Story Ledger was able to expand through a grant from the Golden Apple Foundation of Rockford.

RPS 205 will be holding a Boys & Girls Youth Wrestling Clinic for all K-8 grade students. To celebrate National School Lunch Week, RPS 205 is holding a contest to see who can make the most creative chicken sandwich. The students who create winning chicken sandwiches will win an iPad and their sandwiches will be featured on the menu in the Spring Semester! Please turn in your work of art to the kitchen team in your school's cafeteria between October 14-18. We can't wait to see the delicious combinations you draw up!

Hello Parents of Flinn Scholars! We are currently hosting the 21st century tutoring program at Flinn! If your student needs help getting caught up on assignments or is struggling in a class, we highly recommend it! Times are Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-6pm (transportation home provided), and in the mornings 8:00am-8:45am. All of this is completely FREE!! Sign-up sheets are available in the Flinn main office and is required for joining.

Help Wanted Flinn Middle School is seeking a COMMUNITY SCHOOLS COORDINATOR PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Community School Coordinator (CSC) is a 12-month, full-time position onsite at one assigned school. Under the direction of the building principal, the CSC is responsible for co-leading the development and implementation of the Community Schools vision in response to community assets and needs. The Community School Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for the implementation, integration, alignment, and coordination of the community school strategy at the site level. The CSC is responsible for facilitating the process of whole school transformation and establishing the strategies for positive student outcomes. CSC works in partnership with the school administrator and the School Leadership Team (SLT) to assess the school community’s needs and assets; performs a root cause analysis; coordinates all student and family support services and partners; and creates a CS strategic plan. The CSC facilitates a learning environment in partnership with school administration that supports student achievement and wellness based in the 6 key practices of CS: powerful student and family engagement, collaborative leadership, shared power and voice, expanded, culturally enriched learning opportunities, rigorous community-connected classroom instruction, culture of belonging, safety and care, and integrated systems of support. The Community School Coordinator must work to create a high performing Community School wherein students and families are supported, community members are connected, and successful outcomes emerge. Law enforcement is actively investigating to determine the origination of this source. Currently, it's deemed that the threat isn't credible, and it's not specifically targeting RPS 205 schools. Safety is our number one priority, and we take all threats seriously.
