Meet the Principal

Tammy Shippert

Roosevelt is truly a school like no other.

Tammy Shippert leads staff and students as the Executive Principal of Adaptive Learning, where she has been the Assistant Principal for the last 4 years. Tammy has dedicated her career to helping others overcome their challenges to their full postsecondary potential. Prior to working at Roosevelt, Tammy served as a Curriculum Coordinator in a neighboring district. Her extensive educational background includes working as a Math Teacher, Instructional Coach, Curriculum Coordinator (Math, Science, Assessment, Research and Accountability), and Title 1 Director.

Roosevelt is a school designed to meet the individual needs of all students. We serve high school students, pre-kindergarten, adult education and provide daycare services. Roosevelt staff prides itself on developing strong, meaningful relationships with students. Roosevelt partners with Rock Valley College to offer sixteen different dual credit courses. Students also participate in work-based learning experiences through elective courses within one of twelve career pathways. Roosevelt graduates experience a wide variety of opportunities to explore and formulate a comprehensive post-secondary plan.

Students apply to attend Roosevelt for a variety of reasons. Many seek our inclusive environment and robust social and emotional supports. Others come to take advantage of our competency-based program mode, in which students are able to progress through their courses at their own pace or engage in individualized, project-based instruction based on student interests.

Regardless of why students attend Roosevelt, they learn through hard work and dedication that  everyone can achieve their full potential.
